2009 Celebration was a lovely event.
Hours were from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Each year we decorate the Christmas tree  with home made ornaments.   Partners who can will be in 1830 period dress.  Hot ciders and home made cookies were served.  Children and adults made holiday ornaments. Making ornaments in 2009
The holiday season was celebrated by pioneers but we find very little written about just how their homes were decorated in the early 1800's and especially if there was a Christmas tree.  We know that if there were trees they would be very worried about fires in the cabin...so each year the cabin lifestyle is celebrated in the visitor's center with a tree with no lights of any kind, and primarily home made ornaments.
